Whoops

Took a slip today pulling a few nails to change out a rotted 1x6. About a 10' drop. Just to the right of the window

I landed that chit like a ninja cat and landed on my feet though.

Re: Whoops

Take care brother....

that ninja cat landing starts to go away when you get too many birthdays...

after awhile one don't bounce so good and no matter how you land it hurts and you pay for it......

What do you weigh? A buck-fifty? Ninja cat?! More like you probably just floated down ..

But let's hope you still have eight more lives...

Re: Whoops

I went off a roof last summer, it was only 8 feet but I landed on concrete. I don't know why but it didn't hurt at all!!!

Re: Whoops

I slid off one 2 years ago about 8ft up and my butt cheeks were about half way off and legs dangling over. my butt must have clinched up enough to grab on.

Re: Whoops

Good thing you didn't land on a stack of blocks or something, probably were less aware as the height wasn't so much.

An old framer friend of mine used to have some bad habits but was lucky too, one time he wasn't paying attention and managed to lose his footing on an extension cord, fell off the roof (probably had been drinking or smoking or both as he was wont to do) and, not having an ounce of ninja cat in his big fat a$$ was going down to land flat on his back on the slab below but.............. the masons had just dumped their sand there and he ended up landing on big ole pile of nice soft sand, just like a lazy day at the beach.

Re: Whoops

A farmer I knew had a huge cheaply built pole barn. There was about 4ft of snow on it so him and 2 guys got up there to get some weight off. They were up there shoveling the the snow off and then there was only 2 up there. The last 2 guys realized there was fiberglass panels to let light in. Sure enough the farmer went through the fiberglass and his armpit hung a truss. Broke his shoulder but also slowed his fall to the concrete.

Re: Whoops

I built hay storage into the edge of a woods. Hacked off a bunch of saplings all around it about 18" stumps angle cut with a machete. Every time I got on the roof, I thought I really don't want to fall off this one.

Same deal having a picket fence a few feet out - cat agility only goes so far...

Re: Whoops

First roof back my last season I was doing a tear off my boss was hell bent on me using a wheel barrow and my PPE I thought it was stupid only being up 10 feet. But I liked my paychecks to I did what he said. Set the wheel barrow down at an angle it was loaded a little heavy so it slid. Damn tie off rope chalked it from sliding so it tipped handle hit me in the back of the knee and down I went. PPE would of been great except I landed in a freshly emptied dump trailer 5ft off the ground and my ankle didn't take that too well. Ankle swelled up 5x the size didn't feel a damn thing walked into the er doctors thought I was crazy because they swore it was broken but I couldn't feel anything. Spent two weeks out of work over a nasty sprain and got threatened with surgery. God I miss roofing sometimes
