Where To Find Home/Construction Shows/Expos?

I noticed a lot of you talking about going to home shows or construction expos on a regular basis, like a couple a month. But when I try to look up these events, all I find is big national shows. How do you find listings of local shows? Is there a good resource that would show a calendar of events for shows in the North East? I’m interesting in big or small construction related events, but they seem difficult to find...at least for me to find anyways.

Martin, I am sure someone would be glad to tell you of a few that may be in your area - but it appears you are might be located on Pluto --- Put your location in your profile

Home owner shows - google your area & home shows
Industry related - check out JLC shows, your local NARI or NAHB chapters calendar, ask a few vendors, etc...

Thanks for the response. I’m aware of google and I know how to use it. I was just curious if there is some kind of database or trade-publication that has a comprehensive list of events. It’s a huge market, you would assume there would be such a list or resource displaying all events around the country. Even this forum has a calendar and section for events under “directory,” but both are basically empty. If this highly targeted website doesn’t have a comprehensive events list, I guess nobody does.

Thanks for putting your location in - you are in a golden area for trade shows. I am sure Rory, Ted or quite a few others around you may be able to give you a quick list of upcoming events.

The problem with listings, is most places only want to list ones that they are represented in, only know about ones they are told about, or they only keep track of a certain segment. NAHB, NARI, NADRA, NKBA, blah, blah, blah all have a calendars on their site, vendors advertise which shows they will be at, etc...

I wasn't trying to be flip with my answer, but that is just the way it is. Most sites have calendars on them but they are rarely ever used. It takes a lot to maintain them, members have to send in notices, etc... Might this be a good idea here? Well that is up to Nathan, the mods & us - it would take all three.

That’s what has me so confused. I have more cities than I know what to with within a 4 hour drive of here. And I figured I would be able to find countless shows to go to. But, I’ve only found a handful of huge shows that I don’t think I would be ready for. Anyways, I’ll eventually figure it out, thanks again.

In the past I have done well with the smaller community shows, all you do is call "Plutoville" or "Wherearewe" and ask if they do the shows. Around here we have 4hr and all day shows from $75 to $200 and they are pretty well attended.
Just call city hall and someone will help you out, I think.
