Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

I am working very close to my house, so lately I have been coming home for lunch. My wonderful wife has been putting stuff in the crockpot for me and the guys, but today we had to suffer with some cheap TV dinners. Man those things are aweful!

Anyway, I got to thinking about where you guys that work in the field usually go for lunch.......

A. Fast food restuarant..... dine in or drive-thru
B. Sit down restuarant that serves daily specials
C. Pack a lunch & eat at the jobsite
D. Go home or to the office

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

The guys always eat wherever is handy, and lately, it has been a bufet style restuarant or Sonic drive-in. If I am out with them I buy...today, for me, since I am doing paperwork and worrying again, tuna on white...coke, and hope I can drop a pound or 2. (shouls drink water instead of coke, but I am stressing)

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

E. None of the above.

I rarely eat lunch during the day. I know, I know - I should have something to eat during the day. But honestly, I really prefer to not eat lunch. That doesn't mean I always skip lunch. I might have something small to nibble on if I'm off-site (or it's in the middle of the summer heat) but when I'm on site I just don't take the time to eat.

Again, I know this isn't the best diet plan but I have been able to lose 40 lbs. over the past year and a half by skipping lunches - it works for me!

Do you mean You Actually Have Time For Lunch? Lunch is rare for me. Mostly my choice I suppose. When I do it'll be something fast.

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

ive never been big into lunch. not for productivity reasons, but just the fact that i hate eating on a jobsite. and i hate feeling full and then having to work

i have a terrible habit of grabbing a slim jim (or something totally unhealthy) at a gas station or something everytime i go out or leave the jobsite

i hate packing lunch too --- always have ever since i was a wee lad

i have a theory that single guys (me) have a worse diet than married men? anyone buy that?

Yes I've not heard of this "lunch" thing either.

I usually skip lunch, work late, then come home and eat 3 times as much as I should for supper. Then comlain about how much I ate.

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

I mostly eat out at a fast food place. But sometimes I will go and sit down (I do look dumb sitting all by myself so I dont do it often) A number of other times I will take a toaster oven and some frozen mini pizzas to the jobsite and cook that. Once I get my trailer I will have a fridge, toaster oven, and camping grill in there so I can make whatever I want. I really like eating, its kind of a hobby of mine.

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

I keep some MRE's in the truck in case I really get hungry, which is seldom and only in the winter. A can of Hormels chili can be warmed up pretty quickly with a O/A torch or MAPP Gas.

Summertime, I stop by a fruit stand and throw some in the cooler. Always something that I can eat one-handed while driving and doesn't drip.

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

OK, now I know none of you are country boys or girls.

Can of Vienna sausages with the label removed placed on the exhuast manifold of the truck. It gets hot on the way to the job site and stays warm for hours. Just pick it up with channel locks, pop the top and eat with a toothpick.

Deer hunters and construction hands around here have been doing it for years.

Re: Where Do You Guys Eat Lunch?

what ever happened to a brown bag with some sandwiches your girl made before she leaves for work?
Or leftover spaghetti?

Worse case, drop by Home Depot and hit the sausage and soda lady up.

In the winter we ussually heat up some cans of soup over a grill made of a 55gal drum, grate, and a roofing torch. Otherwise I bring some leftovers or a sandwich.
