What % Are You At

You will notice from my posts that I dont often talk, I prefer to listen. In looking at different post I have noticed some big companies and some small companies. When it really comes down to it what are they each putting in there pockets each year. Would you be happy with all that is involved to make 5% for $1,000,000 in sales or would you be happier and more satisfied with making 30% of $200,000 in sales. I know that some people are more driven by the larger volume and presence in the market your in but is it really worth it.

Nope. I chose a business that appealed to me because I would not have to worry about high level craftsmanship (allowing me to get out from working in the field), high margins and steady annual repeat business. The caveat of my business is, my highest paying jobs are usually under $3,000. The other caveat is low business startup cost. Every year wingdings come in thinking $175 house washes are the ticket. They work hard and are good intentioned. But they own jobs. They disappear as fast as they come. Yeah they are busy.. and?

At the half million mark I am fairly certain I could make more (salary and net company income) than many high volume driven contractors (plumbing, electrical, GC's, painters etc) could make at $2,000,000 in gross sales.
