Re: What Would Most Helpful For Your Business?

Unless your truck will not get you from point A to point B don't spend the money on the truck. Get the new equipment. It will be more beneficial to you in the long run.

Re: What Would Most Helpful For Your Business?

a new truck would be nice, but right now a tool trailer would be more practical.
Communication! getting your business name out there- I think its critical, and I'm spending a lot of money each month on newspaper ads - they are working so far, but I do get a lot of calls for stuff that I don't do. Painting calls! geez, I am not a painter, and the newpaper is full of guys advertising painting!
The web site helps as well, its been mentioned to me by more than a few clients. ($50/yr and several starbucks for the web guy)

On estimates? I have been using my Hilti PD42- wow that's sure a time saver! and it looks professional, most clients are impressed with this, but more than the "wow" shiny new toy effect, I find that its very useful on long runs of baseboard/crown - so that $650 was well spent

Not sure yet about estimates, one place I did a small 1/32 detailed scale drawing - it took longer (got that job) mostly though I just measure roughly the lengths that I need and scribble notes on a pad. This works for me, but I don't know what the client thinks about that.. hmmm. don't want to waste their time, but then I don't want to look like a hack.

More coffee needed whilst I ponder this one

Laurie.

For time travel to be possible, so I could go back and hit myself upside the head the day I thought having partners would be a good idea.

If I ever learn to cut a straight line that would be helpful, if I quit trying to add beer in as overhead that might be helpful. If the cup holder in my van was big enough to hold a large soda, that would be helpful. If I had baby powder with me on hot days so that my beans and frank didnt cling to my leg when I stated sweating, that would be helpful.

You need to be introduced to the mentholating power of Goldbond. Coat your undercarraige with that right after lunch, and you're go to go for 4 more solid hours, on your tippy toes. That's better than a can of Jolt.

Do handymen have to be state licensed in MI? I don't think so in Ga, but I've been wrong before.
