Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
During the summer it seems like all i do is work. Normally out of the house by 7am and get home by around 730.
This year i am working further away from home base, so i will proably leave my house at 5am and be home leave the job by 3. It all depends on where i am working. I just hate sitting in traffic, and will change do whatever i have to, to drive at a time with less. Since its winter i do office work/planting from around 10.30am to around 3 pm. Matt |

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
For me it all depends on the homeowners, but normally 95% of the time I work 7:00-3:00 with just a short 15 minute lunch.
Occasionally I will work 4-10 hour shifts, if the homeowner doenst mind.....and it works with my schedule

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
when working for customers its usually 7:00 ish at the supply house if necessary and 8 on the job...till 5-ish. 1/2 hour for lunch for the guys a cpl of 10-15 min breaks sometimes spread out in different increments.
Some guys I know don't pay for the lunch break. I do. Then there's estimates several times a week after work and paper work at all different hours.

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
Usually 8 AM till i'm tired or at a good stopping point, usually around 5. Some customers don't want me there till 9 as they have to get the kids off to school. Sometimes I start at 7. I don't keep track of the time, just make my bid and get it done as fast as I can without compromising quality. Then again, I have no helpers or employees, and I don't generally stop for lunch cuz it makes me lazy.

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
It all depends on the circumstances of the job, if onsite or in the shop .
Residential remodels are typically 8 - 4:30 New construction can be daybreak til' 4:30. In the shop 6:30 - 4:00, or sometimes til 9 or 10 pm. For businesses that need to remain open during reno it may be night-shift .... from closing time til 3 - 6 am. Our typical work day with usual circumstances is 7 - 4. Weekend options are usually 8-4:30 The crew rarely opts for weekend O T so usually it's just me. Last year I took two weekends off.

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
Temporarily, as in the past 2 years plus 1/2 year yet to go, I start after my wife gets home from her morning shift job, which is usually around 11:00 a.m. I am a stay at home dad for the mornings, and Little Eddie turns 4 in about 2 weeks. I wouldn't have it any other way, as time is too short. The amazing thing is that I still get just as much production done by my roofing crew, without me being there.
I pick and choose the most qualified estimates to run and close at a 52 % rate. This % may go down slightly when I have more time and run some of the less qualified leads though. I love the independance that being in business for myself allows, even with the ongoing typical drawbacks, it is very well worth it for a higher quality of life for my family. Ed |

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
Work Work Work, alot of our time during the week is contributed to work.
168 hours per week Usually 7-5 weekdays and 7-1 saturdays (standard) Then 56 hours of working Therfore 33 percent of the week we're working. I could be about 50%

Re: What Times Do You Guys Work?
Like the above.
It depends on the contract. Summer just gone, I was in the workshop at about 6.30am, and left about 10.30pm. 6-7 days of the week. Or a few years ago I was doing 8-5 days then come back and do 8-5 ( or get paid for 8-5) nights, so basically a 16hr working day. But then at the moment, Im taking it easy and work whenever. |
