What floor protection are you using and why?

We started out using Ram Board -- it's cheap, but on long jobs, hardwood floors were still getting dinged through the protection. Switched to Thermo-Ply a few years ago. We're not getting any more floor damage, but I hate that we're spending $500+ on it at the beginning of each project and it just gets hauled to the dump at the end of the project. I read recently in Fine Homebuilding that if you use Masonite sheets, you can re-use them time and again, but I'm skeptical. What do you guys think?

Masonite works great on large jobs.
We have laid rosin paper, then masonite with taped seams, works great!

Slick side up? Does tape stick to it?

Can you re-use it on multiple projects?

Sorry for the barrage, but it's something we've been wrestling with that I'd really like to resolve once and for all.

It works good. Just give it a shot, bet you don't throw $500 in the dumpster next time. Depending on traffic, eventually you will have to replace a few sheets here and there, but it won't be as bad as starting over everytime.

4x8 cardboard sheets,cheap,cuts easy,durable,throw it out.
Thermo-Ply,a little more expensive, cuts a little harder, may leave silver smudges on what you are covering, save full sheets and re-use.
Masonite, harder to cut and install. may be worth it in the long run.
Subs should all be careful and it always seems somebody messed up the floor somewhere!

Thanks for all the responses. I have a meeting with my lead carpenters tomorrow so we'll all get on the same page.
