Re: What Do You Know Now You Wish You Knew Then?

Thought is simply the precursor to reality... how that reality manifests itself or when or by whom is another issue altogether, but a book, as one example, doesn't manifest itself in any form until it is first comes from thought...

I think the notion of thoughts becoming reality pertains to the intangibles, such as changed perspectives, attitudes, and motivation.
...but it doesn't happen until we get off our duffs and make it happen. I gotta keep adding that.

I know now that this thread has taken a hard right and isn't likely to get back on track.

Hard right because you have to get off your duff to make things happen?

Nah. Wasn't directed at you (or anyone else) personally. The title is "What Do You Know Now You Wish You Knew Then?" Which should be a good topic for new contractors to read. For me it took a right (or left if you prefer) turn when it became a thought vs. reality thread. Or maybe this isn't real...

It's very much on topic for me. Business didn't fall into my lap. I had to go get it and make it happen. Every square inch, year after year.

A mouse trap doesn't chase the mice but it catches them just the same. There are always two side to the coin.

Huh? The point is mouse traps didn't pop into existence by mind bending willpower. Some one invented and produced them.

No, truth is truth, it isn't open to interpretation.

Not if he tries to do it with his brain.

Somebody corners me on starting a business, I'm going to plant the idea of a Success List, a Goal List, and then a Vision Board.

Those are fundamentals in my view. Far more important than any personal trade skills.

I am going to speak long and hard about using that Vision Board to showcase the things, places and goals they want to achieve with their business.

And if they speak small like "I just want enough to pay the bills" - I'm going to excuse myself.

His brain is gonna be what operates those fists.

"Thought then, becomes reality."

Go ahead, tell me he isn't going to manifest a whole bunch of mush face on you using his mind.

The next thing I'm going to do is after he has gotten those things above done, o back and review them. Change them if they don't look or feel right. And never hesitate to change them again in the future as his/her idea of where the business is to go changes.

Then: I'm going to ask him her to consider who he spends his time with. If the goal is to be Top Shooter at a multi-million dollar level, do what ever it takes to hang with exactly those kinds of people, and let some of their attitude rub off.

Similarly, learn to stay away from friends, family acquaintances who don't support you.

They can still be "there" just limit the influence they can have on your emotional and business well-being.

You made my case. Thoughts must be acted upon to make anything happen.
