I love it when you pull up to a big box on a rainy day and the roof-covered loading area is filled up with vehicles belonging to all the candya$$ contractor wannabe's that are standing around inside sucking up free coffee and telling each other what masters of the universe they are.

You have to load in the rain because they are still wandering around inside trying to figure out what they actually want, or just wasting time chasing one of the Barbies.

Now don't be that way. It's just the Internet. I might actually just be a 14 year old kid pulling all your legs after all this time.

Serously though I understand the mentality of real contractors do this or that. Real contractors back in the 1860s cut their own trees down, now we don't. Maybe real contractors in the 1970s only did business with lumber companies. Things are a bit different now. We even buy materials online now.

When it comes down to it today: 'real contractors' build quality projects to improve the life of their customers for a profit.

Everything inbetween the start from the moment a lead calls you and the end on the moment you drive away on the last day of the job is up for interpretation, as long as you've made a profit and your customer is happy, everything inbetween is not written in stone.

I love Home Depot ......as long as they have the stock I need.

It is not my main suppier but it is convienant in a pinch.

The Electrical supplier delivers the wrong resi 200 amp panel and I am struggling to get power back on?...10 minutes to the Home Depot and I'm back on track.

I KNOW that the checkout can be a pain so I take the effort to write down SKU's and stack things on the cart properly.

I'd rather go to a self serve warehouse than a supply house where you tell some clown at the counter what you want. Sometimes I am looking for options and I need to hold stuff in my hands.

Well I just read all 54 posts and I think mine wins!
Went to the depot to get a broom the other day, the flunkie working the parking lot was bumming change, I asked him if they pay him for working there,he says he makes almost as much steming as on the clock.
Needless to say the only thing he got from me was an attitude.
If I thought it was possible to find one,I would of talked to a manager about his help!

We are the same way. Little trinkets and whatnot from Home Depot, larger orders from our main suppliers. I strongly dislike going in there. The level of service has gone down so much over the last few years, and the policies are becoming rediculous. We bought patio door there a couple of years go on Visa. Turned out to be the wrong one, took it back, and they wanted to give me a "voucher" for the money because it would take SIX WEEKS to go through the credit card system.

the fact that the guy in the lumber department told me he is not allowed to lower the stack of 12 ft 2X10's to the ground off the 3rd rack so I could sort through them for straight ones since the top was loaded with the most squirrly things I've ever seen, but oh thats right he also said I'm suppose to take the ones off the top and not sort them.... its policy. Yeah I dont think so......

This week--- sheetrockers ran out of screws and I was going to Home Depot so I bought 2 five lb. boxes One box was taped shut but I bought both boxes. The taped box had square drive screws, which would be great for sheetrock, NOT! So I bring the 5 lb box back yesterday and they don't want to refund my money or give credit---REASON- The box was taped, so I burned em a look and said you sold it to me that way, the HD chickie says, "Don't ever buy anything at HD that has been opened"? I wouldn't budge
and got my credit card charged back, but wait, on the way out the HD greeter asks "are you a contractor?, because HD has a dedicated group of professionals to service my needs". And "would you like to open a HD account"?
