The third time my Brother-in Law did a no show I fired him. Alcohol problems. Now, he works a full week for a non-relative and is laying off the booze. Pisses me off - but worked out for the best for him.

Does he live with you? at the very least reduce his pay to the minimum wage and cut his hours.
No we made him get a apartment when he turned 18.

He has never had a problem not showing up, his problem is calling to see if there is work. If I don't call/text him, he will just sit at home. Sure i mess with the kid, to get him to use his brain a little. So him missing work, mainly has been me being pissed and also him not calling checking in.

You have a very long fuse. My own is not that long. I'm afraid he'd be on the verge of never working for me again based on nothing more than this first paragraph. If the kid has three years of experience and can't be left unsupervised, he's not an employee, he's a liability.

Well then. It comes a time when you must kick this little bird out the nest and let 'em fly on his own. There is no choice but to either drop to the ground with a big "thud" , or fly away and become a grown bird that has to wash his own arsehole........

Because they really do know what he is like and they don't want him in their neighborhood.

hbelectric, he's not a minor anymore. Unless he is in your custody legally, you may have a moral reason to keep a look out for him, but sounds like it's time to cut him loose. He is acting irresponsibly no matter what the cause. Someone like that will sap more and more of your time and energy if you don't watch out and the kid will hang around forever. You think he is a lump now...

Be there to make sure he doesn't totally drown, but it's time to let him sink or swim.

Put him on welfare roll, unemployment calls, handicap SSI (drug/mental), ...or at least McDee Flipper jobs!
