What To Charge For RME Service

The company that I work for has asked me to be an RME for them. I currently hold an active california B (general contractors) license. I do not have any idea what other RME's are being paid or even a range. There seems to be a vacuum out there on what a RME actually does, (what you are "responsible" for and what you "manage". It would be nice if the state whould have a handout that specifies exactly what the duties of an RME are.

Thanks, Clint

RME - Responsible Management Employee

You are responsible. (period)

Read the CSLB website for all the contractor violations...now do or does your company have any issues with those?? If so...you are responsible

Your license is on the line for someone elses company that you have no say or control of...I'd be after 30% of sales if I were you and a chance to review all past, present and future office files including but not limited to quotes, contracts, bank statements, financials, etc.

If the company already has a valid license why not add a classification? While in the process (which takes a few months) you could allow them to bid work under your license for a fee until they are properly qualified.

Re: What To Charge For RME Service

Adding a classification is what they want to do. The company has never had any run in's with the CSLB. 30% of sales may be hard to get, the company should do about 75 mil in sales this year and is still growing. A percentage of the overall profit sounds like a good way to go.

Thanks for you response.
