Western Contractors Supply

Has anyone else been harrased by these guys.

They have cold called me multiple times, I have asked repeatably to be removed from their list and have also gotten in major fights on the phone with their so called salespeople.

They are quite clearly a scam operation and at this point I am trying to get any info so that I can lodge various complaints. They say they are based Arizona and there is a company in Tuscon with this name, and a bogus phone number.

Anyone else had the same problem or know who they are?

Yes! I know these cats and several like them. They call you up wanting to sell you extension cords, specialty tools, fasteners and such. Yes they are very HIGH pressure. As far as being a scam...well not so sure on that. My brother answered our business phone a few years ago (BIG MISTAKE he's not the brightest) He ordered a whole bunch of "personalized" power cords from them. He was sure he was getting a great deal...Why? Because the salesman told him he was. By the time we got these $40 dollar cords I was amazed. They had our companies name printed on them every 4' or so. My brother thought it would keep people from stealing them. Great thought...except the print was so small that you wouldn't notice the print on them from futher than 2' away. They all disapeared just as fast as any other cord...Stay away from WESTERN!!!

Re: Western Contractors Supply

The ones I really like are the steel companies selling buildings. I get a call every few weeks from these clowns..amd here is the pitch: We are looking for someone in your area to install and sell our buildings. We offer you contract pricing, technical help, sales leads, etc.etc., and all you need to do is send us $6000 (or more or less) and this will be applied to your first 2 buildings sold, then you will have a protected territory, only you will be able to sell the best built steel buildings on the market.....AWESOME! I think everyone should do this. I tell the clowns to stop calling me, I would never in a billion years PAY to sell a company's product, PERIOD. We have 6 or more metal building manufacturers within 120 miles of me, they all sell engineered buildings and it is a competitive market...and they will fall all over themselves to sell to me. Plus the issue of freight...how can a South Carolina company compete with that in this day and age of killer fuel?

I have never heard of Western, but I have cold calls from suppliers all the time wanting me to try their products..many of these come from our subscriptions to Concrete Concepts and other trade pubs.

Those guys have been calling me for years. I use to argue with them. Now I start talking and hang up in mid sentence.

Re: Western Contractors Supply

The next time they call, tell them you won't buy anything sight unseen. Ask them for a location or better yet tell them to send you some free samples of their product(s). Then have some fun with their responses. Getting yourself stressed out over their calls is only going to give you (more?) grey hair. There's too much stress in our line of work to let unsolicited sales calls bother you.

Re: Western Contractors Supply

I've got a good way of dealing with these guys and I make sure everyone in the office does the exact same thing.

When I answer the phone and realize it's a cold call salesperson I listen for about 1 min and then say "perfect timing, I need to buy a couple things...hey hold on just a minute, I'll be right back with the list of stuff".

Then I put them on hold and never come back. They want to waste my time so instead I'll waste theres. I've seen them wait over 30 min before they hang up. Time is money to these guys so they usually won't call back but if they do just say "oh yeah, the list, let me go grab it, hold on I'll be right back". and do it again. That'll learn'em.

What I really can't stand is when you pick up the phone and a recording says "we have an important phone call for you, someone will be on the line shortly". WHAT THE F--K! YOU called ME and your'e putting me on HOLD!

I hang up immediatley when this happens, I don't care if the call was coming from the President himself....

Re: Western Contractors Supply

It's not western, but we've been getting calls from a mcmillian supply or the like that have turned strongly sexual in a harassing way.
Unlisted number, very scary.

Anyone know how to find out who's calling you when the number's unlisted?
I'm a bit scary with my address being search-able & wife & kid at home.

Re: Western Contractors Supply

I just started getting calls from that guy again, he's pretty persistent and obnoxious. He just for the first time called my personal home line. I looked up a post I had seen on here awhile back that had his cell phone number. I tried it and it's the same voice on the voice mail, it's 520-289-7048. might want to try a little payback Phil

Re: Western Contractors Supply

Thanks for the heads-up. I knew there was another thread about him, I just wasn't able to find it until your post.

Would organizing a ContractorTalk "official reply" be appropriate, or is that some off form of collusion?

Re: Western Contractors Supply

I think anything that puts a hurt on him is apropriate. This guy has been harrassing me and wasting my time for 15 years!! I've made it abundantly clear that I will never buy anything from him, but he keeps calling. He must have some sort of call quota or something. This guy is rediculous. Phil
