Vinyl Siding guys
just wondering, how much extra do you guys charge to remove existing wood shingles? existing vinyl? i usually charge 375 per square for labor and all materials.although the rolls of aluminum are through the damn roof.this is usually siding that is .042 and cost about 65 per sq. however, that price does not include tear off. i usually add an extra 1500 if its an average size house-2500-3500 sqaure feet. this includes a container for debris. i am using .50 insulation not the 3/8 garbage.

Hi, That sounds about right. I charge 350-400 for "average" vinyl siding jobs using the 12'6" standard siding. The difference in price come from the difficulty level of each job and my estimated set up and break down time. Vinyl soffit & fascia I charg 15 dollars a lineal foot.
I usually charge abot the same, 1500 for stripping shakes or wood siding off, for an average side 2 story, including dumpster. Usually a 1 day job for 3 guys, plus 300 for the dumpster. I look to be in the range of 50 dollars per man hour on a job like this.
Figure 20 square to be about the average size home, 300 for aluminum, 1500 for siding, 300 for soffit, 100 for nails, 400 for foam, 200 for j channel, 100 for starter strip,
That's being generous - 2900 for material (probably more like 2500, but i round up too err on the side of not underrbidding)
So let's call it 3,000 for material
about 80 hours of labor 4,000 for labor
dumpster 400 for dumpster
my profit is included in both the markup on labor and markup on materials, although I do not mark up materials that much, not more than 20%. I really try to get my labor hours correct based on past experience. I would fully exect 2 guys to do this job in a week. I could do a house myself in a week including stripping and foam.
I would put in an estimate of about 7,400 for your typical 2 story raised ranch home.
Large corners, dentil molding, the fake cedar look panels that come in 4 1/2 foot sections, nd other other foreseen varibles would cause the price to be adjusted accordingly.
I hope this helps, I have done about 20 vinyl siding jobs, so I don't know everything but I make good money on all of them. Well, good in my perspective.
Obviously, physically installing the siding is one part of a larger process of getting the job, advertising, finding and keeping employees, makeing sure the job is done - and done right at whatever cost, insurance, vehicles, tools, gas, company profit, ect.. All of these factors, and many more - will affect how much your company will need to charge to stay prosperous.

i usually include all the fascia and soffits in the price of 375 per sq. as i said,i usually tack on another 1,500 if we are doing a tear off.this includes the dumpster of course.so its basically an extra 50 bucks per sq for a tear off including the dumpster.

i pay $3.00 for a 16 square foot (2'X8') board of 1/2" polystyrene from local siding warehouse company. so I would need 125 of them. That's 375 plus tax. That's where I got m 400 from....
Sounds like you are paying alomost about $4.50 for the same thing....

We stopped stripping unless the wall is really bad, or the customer requests it.

less cost, less mess/cleaner, higher insulation value, sometimes more structural integrity. The trim system that we use, allows us to avoid that ugly bumped out look often associated with not stripping.

We do about 100 siding jobs a year. A 20 sq. job and a 20 sq. job could be totally different. You should break down number of sq's of siding, stripping, if not stripping if you have to build out windows and doors, insul-wrap your using, number of windows, doors, garage doors, lineal foot of fasica and soffits, doing this you should aways come out on top. Maybe you won't get some jobs but you won't run in to where some jobs you seem to make good money and some you don't.
