Van Died! What Are You Driving?? Need Rec's!

One of my Ford's died. I need a new one and was looking for recomendations on what everyone likes and dislikes about the available cargo vans out there. (Chevy, Ford, Dodge, GMC)

I was looking for a '250' or '2500'

I am not stuck on staying with Ford b/c of the poor brakes in the brakes in the '95 that died on me and the '98 and '99 I own that are still running.

...oh yeah, anyone drive those weird looking Spinters?

The Sprinter was originally name plated Freightliner, then Dodge.

The delivery services here are using them (UPS, FEDEX, DHL) so they must be durable.

The diesel engine that is available is made by Mercedes, and is supposed to get excellent mileage.

If I were in the market for a van that is the way I would go.

The height looks excellent.get in there and walk,as well as ease of loading material. Not so high where it would be to much of a pita to get ladders or lumber.

When I make a new van purchase I would deffinately research into the Sprinter. A few contractors around here have them and love them.

Re: Van Died! What Are You Driving?? Need Rec's!

get a sprinter, you won't be sorry I have the medium length high roof 2500 cargo van, get about 22mpg, turning radius like a honda civic, auto shift is great, handeling is awsome, premium seating is untouchable. the quality is no joke (puts domestic vans to shame) awsome interior lighting, assyst maintenience computer is great,

Cons: premium sound sux, keyless entry is not that great, disabeling auto power locks upon engine start is a must.

if you need a real workhorse, I would consider getting the 3500 possibly with optional low rear

Sure, I just got an 05' E-250. I will never own any work "truck" except FORD. I love my new van, just like the old but new. I said this once in here already but I had 258,000 miles on the one I just got rid of and the dude will prolly get another 200,000 out of it. I love mine, I'm a carpenter and plenty of room for everything and then some, just lock it up and I'm good.
