Tree Trunk Removal

I have a walnut tree to remove from a residential property near a green house, fence, deck, an pond.......

I also want to turn it into lumber so keeping it intact is priority....or maybe two pieces.

The trunk is 25 - 30 feet tall and two feet diameter near the base.

It is near a driveway so I could use a hiab to ease it down maybe....

Any suggestions.........and unless your paying don't suggest a helicopter.

Re: Tree Trunk Removal

Fairly simple.

If you are planning on milling it, get the hauler on site as you are cutting it. They can grab hold the trunk with their boom and guide it down as you cut.

logging is what, the second deadliest profession, and you're asking US how to save your life?

Didn't I see this on America's Funniest Videos?

Re: Tree Trunk Removal

saving my life isn't the issue. I have already delimbed the tree but falling it as one unit is out due to obstacles all round. I definitely think the crane truck is the best option. Thanks for the input.

Re: Tree Trunk Removal

That gives me an idea. How about running an alaskan chainsaw mill down the trunk while the tree is still standing?

I think with a proper rig it may be useful....

Re: Tree Trunk Removal

If you have a 31' x 5' area to drop it . Just drop it or get a tree guy to cut it. Its kinda small you could pull it with a rope . Cabinet lumber is 8' lengths so you could cut 8' at a time and push or pull it over . You will need a truck to move it . If you could get close they can grab the top section and lower it down with the crane .

If you drop it on the pond, will the pond break? Shock waves to the fish?
