Tree Houses

Any of you all ever get into building tree houses. I'm going to place some adds this season to see what comes up.

Re: Tree Houses

I have no idea if it would be needed but you might want to look into the permit issues around it.

Re: Tree Houses

I think it could be a fun change of pace... not sure if you can get the same dollar amount per hour for something like that though. I would do one for a good price just because I think it would be fun.

Re: Tree Houses

Now that I think about it more I think the risk may not be something I would want to take. If it was posts set in concrete piers "in" the trees maybe. But I would not want to fasten it to the trees... but then its not really a tree house. When you bring codes and permiting into it then you have a 3' wide staircase going into a tree house with a 3'x3' conc pad at the bottom. Not to mention I am sure it will be over enginered. Because I am sure the codes would see it as a house... then you have to have a bathroom and all kinds of stuff.

Re: Tree Houses

The IRC prohibits structures supported by vegitation only. Many areas exemt structures less than a certain square footage from the building codes, so this may be your "out" for building tree houses.

Come to Texas...You can do what you want. (outside the cities)
I could go out tomorrow and build a home in a tree. Not tell anyone and wait for the tax lady to find me.
Might sound strange to some but I like little government in my life

Only in Texas can you go hunting with beer in one hand, gun in the other, while driving with your knee...

I saw it too.

That one time they barely made the deadline for it because of the snow.

Re: Tree Houses

IRC shmirc get a variance. One time on Home Time or what ever the one were that couple would exchange heated remarks. They built a tree house that was engineered off a thick tree limb. Did some posting and strapping.

IIRC you can build a 200 sq ft outbuilding built on skids with no permit under the IRC.

Bob
Up here in Vermont that same guy will shoot a guy sitting on a running tractor, saying he thought the guy on the tractor was a deer.

This realy did happen this hunting season.

It is a shame California has turned into what it is. Such a nice state

I lived in Mass. You couldn't breathe without the government trying to tell you how. Really ruined the state...unless you like being controlled

As one of my uncles in England says....They protect us, They take care of us?? He truly believes that?
