I think they are worth it just to keep up on new products, etc. I only subscribe to free ones though. Custom Home, Qualified Remodelor, Remodeling, Tools of the Trade.

I think trade magazines are invaluable. Many are free if you you their criteria, which seem pretty loose to me. I get about 8 different magazines and don't pay for any of them. I'm a painter and I've gotten a roofing magainze for years (which has been very informative).

I have to strongly agree...invaluable...We have them laying all over the house(um, office) Whenever anybody comes over they pick one up and it sparks some sort of conversation, brain storm or idea. They inspire and educate.
Good Luck,

Re: Trade Magazines (Plumbing)

I agree with the rest, I love them. They keep you up on whats "latest and greatest" and what products rate better than others, some of the better ones even give you technical knowledge that you might use some day.

Tool reviews, marketing ideas, customer comments, who knows where you might find that little "scrap" of information that might make your business more efficient or profitable, solve a problem, or save you money. I must get 12 to 15 different magazines a month, only 2 do I pay for. I read most of them, others I scan through to see if there is anything interesting, because you never know....
