They already have these on the market. Your choices are a little vague.

Yes, I know. This is a project for a tool company that wants to explore into this category.

Any suggestions on how to improve the survey?

Research Survey

On average how long does it usually take to install a cabinet?

Depends on the cabinet

What do you normally use for cabinet installation?

Depends on the cabinet- in general, look at Cdat's list, although I would add a Fien saw and, since I've been doing a lot of log work recently, a chainsaw. also, I have removed cabinets hung with a ramset, so apparently that's on someone's list.

What do you feel works?

It all Depends on the cabinets, the type of construction of the wall, the quality of construction of the wall, ect.

What are you likes and dislikes about your system?

My system changes with the type of construction, with log, the worst part is cutting the channels for the trim to slip into.

Do you feel a tool to help cabinet installation is necessary?

You certainly aren't getting very far without tools. If you mean a new tool, what are you offering?

Would you purchase a tool to help aid cabinet installation?

I don't hang a lot of cabinets, but if I knew that I had a bunch to hang, I probably would buy something to make it eaiser.

Would you prefer a free standing installation tool or a wall mounted?

Depends how the tool works. Free standing is potentially better because you don't have to attach temp stuff to the wall.

What do you feel would be a necessary feature for a cabinet installation tool?

for me, the most usefull tool would be something to channel out the logs, so the ablity to cut a perfectly vertical line up to 1 1/2" wide would be the best feature.

Do you feel a leveling system would be necessary?

In the above mentioned tool, absoultly. In a jig for positioning the cabinets on the wall, it would certinally be a useful addition.

What price range do you think would be reasonable for this tool?

  • $10-$20

  • $25-$50

  • $50-75
  • $100+

It depends on what the tool can do- if it does more, then it's worth more.
