Too Many Marks.

Ever get on a job where everyone seems to have the same first name as you? I've been at this one place where it seems like most of the guys are named Mark. My name is Marc, so it's certainly confusing enough. The floor guy is Mark. The painter is Mark. The cabinet guy is Mark. I'm the electrician, and I'm Marc. The window guy stopped in the other day to take some measurements, and do you care to guess what his name is? You got it. Mark. Weird... almost like I got beamed onto another planet. Now, I know how George Foreman's kids must feel.

Been there, done that. I've done jobs with 2 or 3 other Johns.

At least when someone yelled, "John!", someone answered. Might not be the one they wanted, but at least someone responded....

When I was born, Susan was the number three most given girl's name.

Now it's not in the top 100.

There were 5 Joe's on one job last year. On another job, a few years ago, I'd swear that everybody on the site was named Bob.

46ish, to be precise. Close to my birthday last month, I jumped a year somewhere and believed I was turning 47. Then I did the math and thought... wait a minute...

Here's a fun site: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/babynames/

I checked and Susan is now number 622 in popularity.

I have a thing about guys called Steve, even though my name isn't Steve it seems as though everyone that comes up to ask for a job, a project owner, the mailman, kid riding down the street, my neighbor, the painters...it seems like everyone is named Steve!

I tried to convince my brother to name his daughter Clamydia. He thought it sounded pretty too. His wife wasn't impressed though. Oh well, I'll keep trying on my friends.

Re: Too Many Marks.

About 9 yrs ago I was on one of our job sites. My boss yells hey john get over here. So I holler ok. One of the subs helpers says why? My boss realizes whe have the same first name. So he calls out my last name. I yell Iam coming, the subs helper looks at me and says " hey john how does he know my last name?" We both had the same first and last names. I was younger and better looking so I shook his hand and said I was sorry to meet him.

Norm isnt to common, its a good name though. I hate all the names kids get now. Those soccer moms have to come up with something new so there kid is so cool. Like tristen or kelsa, just sounds retarded to me. Pick a good classic name like Michael
