Tips For Newbies - Volume XVII - "Communication"

There's alot thrown at you when you're first starting up

and there will be problems

i'd go on to say that probably 90% of those problems will originate by a lack of communication or improper communication

conquer this (good luck) and you can sail

True story... Say all you want in a contract, it's the things unsaid that'll kill you. Also the things you don't think of.

The only one who wants you to make a lot of money is yourself.

When you give a bid, do it with confidence and DO NOT get wishy-washy.

Don't be afraid to walk away when the homeowners asks if you can do better on the price, or increase your bid and say to them "how's this price? I'm doing a lot better with this higher price."

If there is enough $ in my contract and I get a brainstorm. I will usually go ahead, do the better job, absorb the extra cost and not mention it to the ho. If it's big then just be upfront.
