Time & Material Job

Doing a small job right now, Its Taping and finishing out a small room.(Bathroom, maybe 10 board) I worked for him before and he bitched about my prices. Its the same for every one. Small room flat price($450 done ready for paint)Havent worked for him for 3 months.
Now just did(two weeks ago) two small jobs for him at cost just to get him back as a contact. Only charged him the time i was on the job. I have talked to a few other tradesman and ask about T&M. They all say its your time doing that job.

1. Getting supplys
2. Back and forth to job.
3. Working on the job.

Now with this job its run more then the other two job in price because of the trip to get supplys, billing for one way. Should I write down on the invoice my days, time at job, and what i was doing?

Thanks for you help.

$1.50 @ minute should cover all your overhead. Itemize his t/m to the minute.

Wait until you are questioned on it. Then produce it .

He bitched about your prices , but look who he called again.

Snow Man beat me to it: he called you AGAIN. We all have had that client who bitches no matter how good a deal they get. Don't fall victim to his harrassment.

I agree he is trying to take you as a fool. Charge him what you think your work deserves and not a penny less. He obviously likes your work. And so what if you tell him the set rate and he goes off and hires someone cheaper for a job or two. If you work is good he will see that cheaper is not all ways better and he will be calling you again.
