Who was dumb enough to hire a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds to demo a bar and expect it to go off without a hitch.

I was part of a teenage crew that did the exact same thing. The place was in a remote spot, we had been there a few days ripping out the beer boxes and all behind the bar itself. Pulled out the old oak slat flooring, picked up @$1000 worth of silver coinage and a few silver certificates. Started tearing out the wood work when we found a room within a room that had a chain link cage full of booze. Who would have thought it had a burglar alarm on the gate? We had bolt cutters, so off came the lock and out went the booze with the alarm blaring the rest of the day. Then one of us pulled the handle on the kitchen suppression system on the way out the door that night. Man was the GC pissed. Looking back now we were nuts but had some serious fun.

Re: Tearing Down A Bar

It is good to hear that so many received so much experience as a teenagers, I would hate to be doing this with a group that just received their certification. I do have to tell you, and I would not normally say this, but my experience is mostly in the demolition of dairy related products or maybe to state it correctly the consumption of dairy products. A certain un-named company, way back in the beginning of time, a couple of youngster, not ready to shave were helping their father remove “VA” tile to build new walls on a Sunday and several large commercial freezers somehow become disconnected. Needless to say the ice cream bar plant handed out cases and cases and cases of ice cream bars to everyone on Monday morning. So consumption is not a problem for me, even though it is not dairy…I still remember riding the conveyer rollers on a wooden milk box from the street, through a dark shut and into a cold room. We would load the old tile into the boxes and send them outside to the truck, then ride the boxes back…….I not sure if this bar will have this type of entertainment, but then who cares…..I am not eating ice cream either….
