Superior Walls Info
can anyone thats used them give any info on superior walls for basements. looking at their web site and their product everything looks great but would like to talk with someone thats used this product to see if its as good as advertized. also i'm a little concerned about the way they do their footings out of crushed stone, wondering how this compares to reg. concrete footings, and how crushed stone footings will work over time!!

Re: Superior Walls Info
you actually get a wider footprint(60 degrees) with the stone footing, whereas with the concrete footing the most you will ever get is 24". Superior walls starts at 10" and then 60 degrees down so obviously more than 24".

Re: Superior Walls Info
I would think the answer relates to soil conditions. In my area small areas of soil collapse are the significant issue. A well built concrete foundation will bridge this. If the soil conditions dictate, post-tension can be used. The crushed stone probably would fail under these conditions. It would work well for spreading the load, poor for bridging.

Re: Superior Walls Info
I have them and have had 1 issue so far which they fix within a week. One corner developed a leak. They came out and put a 2 part epoxy in it and have had no issues. The house is 4 years old and in clay. I have had 0 settling. This basement is also one of the driest feeling basements I have every been in. Thier warenty sure beats the tail light warenty of pured or block.

Re: Superior Walls Info
not having all the info you need is the problem .i think if you are going to use superior walls or any type of concrete foundation you need to have a person that is not affiliated with the company doing the install to ensure it is done properly .the most common problems with Superior walls is a improper install or not following proper guidlines.this usuallt falls to the contractor but if he dont know then how will he know it wrong. lot of peeps dont like the sealing process but if done properly it is fail safe .companys trying to save money might scimp on proper applying procedures wich allow leaks .HIRE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY BY NOT KNOWING!!!!
hire a person that can advice you of known problems |

Re: Superior Walls Info
I've done 3 homes on them so far. Watch the framing details, specific blocking is required on walls that run parallel to joists, depending on the level of grade as opposed to wall height. More bolts and wider sill plates are required too. The first pic had a Superior Walls foundation, with only one wall slightly out of square. I believe there were 24 corners in the foundation. The second one was erected on top of 24" wide footings to support the weight of concrete floors and so on. They were specially built to accept steel framing.

Re: Superior Walls Info
These walls are nice, fast installation, for a basic mid-size foundation layout, usualy done in one day. As the price goes, if a regular foundation run you 10k Superior will run you 20k. My buddy is a custom home builder in the 1m range homes and he used Superior all the time, but he switched back to block, when market took a dive. My other friend is building a few homes around the corner from me he used them also. Try it, you might like it you might not, and make sure you have crane access, in addition be sure to adjust your budget, they will almost run double in price. I have been considering to try them out, but you have to have a home in the right price range.
Good luck
