Steel Sheets For Garage

I have an old 2 car garage at my city home that needs update. The entire building is frames with Angle irons with steel sheathing. Its time to update and i want to replace the sheets alone. Can i do that? The framing is in ecellent condition, not even rust. Is it possible to purchase steel sheets alone?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb questions, but my steel knowledge is very limited.

Are you talking about corrugated metal panels?

I have a one car garage that sounds like what your talking about. If its the same as mine then the sheeting is rotted in some spots. Menards has corrugated steel paneling on sale this week, around $1.75 a linft.

you can replace the sheets, but make sure you use the same gauge, or thicker. I would try to find the original manufacturer if possible, to maintain wind/snow load ratings, and to get all the matching trim and gutter parts.

Install with tappers that have an "O"-ring, and be very careful on the roof, it is very slippery when wet. Pay extra to have the sheets pre-cut to length by the manufacturer, and dont forget new insulation. Wear gloves, and dont work on windy days.

Do a search for "steel buildings" and your area, and you should find a manufacturer close. The industry standard is 3 feet wide by infinite length, meaning they roll this at their plant. 26 gauge is pretty standard as well, and due to the tensile strength, will work in nearly every application....
