Starting Own Business
Hey everyone,
I recently decided to break away from the mold and start my own business. However, I soon realized that I may need some help along the way. What do you guys suggest? I know I can always ask all of you questions that I may have, but I found a canadian construction company that is offering a lot of consulting services. They're called EllisDon, and they seem to be a big deal up north, and I was looking to buy their project management consulting service. Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.ellisdon.com/construction...ct-management/ What do you guys think/you have any other suggestions? |

Wow, I haven't even clicked the link and I can tell they're super duper! With a name like EllisDon, how can you go wrong?
::whisper:: Can I get a percentage of the sales? ::whisper:: |

Re: Starting Own Business
your local library will have lots of books on the subject which can be checked out for free. I realize this is more work than hiring someone to do your work for you but you should know or learn how to do this stuff.

Re: Starting Own Business
Have you written a business plan? You probably should have done that before deciding to go out on your own. It's true most people don't write one, but most people don't succeed with their own business either. I like this book http://www.amazon.com/Plan-Profitability-Write-Strategic-Business/dp/1891929194/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1242835981&sr=1-1
If you write up a plan and mail it to the author, he will write you back with suggestions too. But I think advisers are always good like the one you posted about. Besides a general business consultant, you should consider seeing an accountant, attorney, banker, and marketing consultant too. |
