Sound Deadening

Is homosote still the best and most cost efective sound deadener? This is for my own house. The kids in the basement are too damn load. Also like most contractors houses some project is half done. For me that is my basement. So before I close up the space what is the best to use.

There is a product out there called green glue that alot of people have used to deaden their home theaters check it out and check out www.hometheaterforum.com and avsforum.com they have lots of chatter about sound deadening
