Re: Smelly Employee

used to have a guy on a framing crew we called fishbait. Had some of the most FAWL smelling shoes ever.. like stink bait

every once in a while he would show up smelling okay, all the other times it was just Effin nasty. I would just be point blank with him, if he is a good worker offer him a $.50 raise if he comes to work showered.

I dont know, I shower all the time and seem to not have any luck with the ladies. Maybe they are attracted to the man musk.

Years ago I wanted some of those 2 mile range radios. My dad got me some for christmas and he told me when he was at the sporting goods store they had them behind the counter by the guns. He said he was looking at them and nobody was around and then some big fat woman comes from the back room and says can I help you. He said he pointed to the radios and went to say he wanted to see them but the cloud of BO from the woman engulfed him and he said it took his breath away. He said his eyes were watering and his lungs wouldnt suck any air in. I guess he had to walk away to breath. I wish I could have seen that.

Is this guy living in a car or something? I really cant see why anyone would want to smell like this, there must be something wrong. Tell him his smell is causing the shingles to curl.

Re: Smelly Employee

Years ago I worked with a guy who hated perfumes. I never used prefume or cologne only speed stick, apparently he found that offensive (although halfway throught the day I smelled like deoderant and he reeked of BO). One day after working with him for a few months he hands me a stick of unscented anti-perspriant and told me that he wanted me to use it for my perfumy smell was bothering him. I told him his rank smell from lack of deoderant was even worse...I took the anti-perspriant to please him, then threw it in the garbage at home.

Just firmly tell him you run a professional company and you can't show up smelling like a$$ or you'l can him.

Get some of those baking soda boxes for the fridge and tell him to keep them in his tool pouch.

Re: Smelly Employee

Where is he originally from? You guys might find this wrong, but North America is about the only country where people bathe every day. Some 'normal' countrys, people reek! All the time.

Ever been around someone that does not know how to apply their 'perfume'? Some people, me included, find that your masked smell is worst then your bo.

Now, that that is said, gang rush the guy, tackle him and throw him in the largest mud hole you can find. Get those big bristle brushes you use to scrape mud off of heavy equipment tires and scour his body. Then hit him with some high presssure hoses to blast the dirt off of him. When you think the smell is gone, dump about a gallon of cheap lady's perfume on him. Repeat daily until he gets the message.

Re: Smelly Employee

Buy a bottle (or two) of Febreeze and make a show of deodorizing any area in which he has worked.
Maybe you can even get a couple shots to land on him too.

X2, a friend of mine helped me all summer had on and off days with his odor and i carried a bottle of frebreeze in each truck. One day he asked what they were for and i told him it was to spray the truck after he was in it. He wasnt happy with that comment. I also gave him several of my business shirts and some shirts that came from my distributors so at least he had clean shirts to wear.
I later asked him about the condition of his home because i remembered it being a run down shack. I offered him to put materials on my account, to give him several weekends of my time and time with my mini-ex to build a new addition on his home so he had better living quarters all in the hope he would keep himself cleaner. I know he has no running hot water as during the winter his pipes froze and broke and he only repaired the cold side for the toilet. He turned me down i think out of embarassment which is a shame because he is probably the best employee i have been able to hire. He now works full time for a mutual friend of ours and he appears to be cleaner since he is working on the road all the time and has access to a shower everyday.

Re: Smelly Employee

you could take a slightly passive aggresive approach,,tell him one of your customers complained and you CANNOT tolerate losing a customer over something that can be fixed so easily(showering). tell him he has to do it daily !
