A Simple Phone Call

I wasted 4½ hours of my life and about $30 in gas this morning because of one thing. Using the phone....or failure to use the phone. I don't know how many times I have done that. I swear I'll never learn.

Same with going to HD or the lumber yard. A simple call "do you have this?" or "how much is it?"

Anyone else hit their heads one too many times? Painfully obvious in hindsight.

Don't beat yourself up too much - even when I call ahead, it's sometimes a 50/50 chance that who I talk to will give me the wrong info. I describe a specific connector, they say yup, got it in, then when I get there, no connector.

Happens way too often. We have a Sam's CLub walking distance from our shop. Once we went in to buy a 10 x 20 tent for $200. They were out of stock, but they offered to look it up on their computer. 5 were shown in stock at a store 30 miles away. They called and the manager at the other storee confirmed. Our men drove out there, and it turned out they had only one, and it was the display model with dozens of cuts and tears. I was furious.
There's a Home Depot next door to Sam's club. Same storey. We've given up phoning because a phone call is always at least 20 minutes. Quicker to drive over and look.
