Share A Lesson Learned From Experience ...

Thought it'd be cool to have a collection of quick, simple lessons learned through experience ...

"The power of focus" ... instead of pursuing the generic 'everyone' (any and everyone who someday could buy whatever it is you sell) ... define a specific market ... get to know it intimately ... speak to its needs ... cure its ills.

Re: Share A Lesson Learned From Experience ...

Very true advertiseing to the masses is a waste of money. It is better to spend money on a targeted list of people that buy what you sell then spend on advertiseing to them

Like people that buy traffic for their website they get thousands of hits but don't get any buyers

Call out used-ta-be-contractors who join contractortalk merely to push their own lead service -
(feel free to contact Nathan regarding a fee schedule for advertising here, Ranman)

If your wife asks you "do these pants make me look fat?" Don't repond with "no, your ass makes those pants look fat"

When customers call return their calls promptly and call when you're going to be late arriving to their job.

Re: Share A Lesson Learned From Experience ...

I need to apologize to you, each member of the forum as well as to Nathan for my previous email signature.

It was not my intent to violate the TOS or to offend anyone by offering the free information. After having thoroughly read the TOS, I see that clearly I did both of the above.

My hope, in being a member of this forum, is to really become a 'disciple' of an industry that I respect and admire ... and to contribute in some way to its growth and the growth of this forum's members. For that reason, I do enjoy replying to threads and providing feedback that are related to my business background ... in essence, giving back.

Again, I am very sorry for crossing the line and do hope that each of you accept my apology.

It is not wise as a HO to raise your voice to your contractor when you weigh 170Lbs and he is 220lbs

Advice:
When heating up a can of whatever you're eating for lunch over an open fire, make sure that there is a hole or two in the can.

Don't raise your voice to your client when he is a K-9 cop and his dog is standing beside him

The best tank terrain is that without anti-tank weapons.

and...

A Purple Heart just proves that were you smart enough to think of a plan, stupid enough to try it, and lucky enough to survive.
