Shallow Roof And Sagging Rafters

The thread by the guy that dumped his partner who tore a weight bearing wall out and called his method of support trusses/floating ceiling makes me think of a house nearby that had a leaking roof. It was decided there was not enough pitch since the rafters had started sagging. It had fairly shallow pitched roof. So two gables were built on the sagging roof, one big one, one small one perpindicular to the existing ridge. It just seems to me that is putting a lot of weight on an already weakened structure.

Now that I think about it, I don't think any consideration was given as to where the sides of the gables fell. I would think the sides would need to be over dome sort of supporting wall and not just above the living room. Especially the bigger one.
