Scheduling
My wife and her assistant schedule service orders. Give the client a time that I will arrive. We ran into problems with that because like any trade, you never know what you're going to run into which might ultimately make you late for your next call. They are great with curtesy calls to the client to let them know if I'm ahead or behind schedule.
We thought we could implement a new system and give them specific windows, 8-12 & 12-5 as an example. This didn't work because half the time I showed up within the allotted window, the client wasn't there so it has to be rebooked or pushed to a later time in the day which ultimately caused grief in the office and me wasting gas and time. Besides, it had a SEARS feel to it which I didn't like. I really don't want to sound ungrateful to their service, but I'm having a hard time letting go of this little bit of control. Up until two years ago it was just me and my cell phone. This is just a rant and I'm sulking because I'm just getting home from two back to back sewer main repairs, it's raining, I can still smell shyte, I"m hungry and tired and my wife wants to go over some home renovations.......she's been home since 5:00. How does everybody else handle their daily appointments?? Anything I can go to them with and we can try and work something out together so I don't lose my mind.
