I was wondering what used scaffolding sells for or new for that matter. I just bought 5 sections of it for $100. I was wondering it I got ripped?

now all I need is a couple grand worth of 2x12s

If its in good shape, you got a deal.

Check eBay for prices, lots of dealers there.

Its in pretty good shape but has ugly thick layer of silver paint on it and some sort of 60s blue under it. Its the standard 5x7 scaffolding.

Re: Scaffolding Prices

If its in useable shape (and generally used scaffolding is just as good as new), you got a heck of a deal. Those things last for years and years and years.

There are 5 sections I got and 4 match and they are old but in good shape and boy are they built good. The other section is the same size but maybe 5yrs old and is built cheap like all the new ones I see. I would like to find more someday, its a nice set to start out with but I big job there would be to much work in moving it. A friend has somme of the same size to so I could borrow his if I needed it.

Hey Michael,

It is going to depend on how many "big" jobs you do where you will need a lot of scaffolding. I have 9 sections of scaffolding, rarely do I ever use all 9 sections on a single job. You are right about the labor of moving it (along with storing it), twice in the last 10 years I have had a project that required more than 9 sections.

It was actually cheaper overall for me to rent the scaffolding for the entire project (one needed 30 sections) than to use my own, plus renting the additional scaffolding. Then I would have to make sure what I rented matched what I had. By the time I accounted for the costs of moving mine, including gas, wages, time and trouble, etc. I rented the whole package for not much more than it would have cost to rent just the additional scaffolding I would have needed. and the great part, they delivered it and picked it up for a nominal fee.

You did get a good deal on the scaffolding, and matching it shouldn't be too much of a problem, you just have to figure out how much you need for your avarage use and go from there. If your friends scaffolding matches yours, all the better for both of you, neither of you has to store a bunch of it, yet you have additional sections available if needed.

Re: Scaffolding Prices

I notice scaffolding has a date stamped into it. Somebody told me once about a 12 year inspection interval for scaffolding pieces. Anyone know anything about that?

Re: Scaffolding Prices

I have a roll a round section we use for interior work. Everything else is rented. Can't beat the price to deliver, set up and tear down from the specialist. Usually no time limit. Pay on set up, call to have it removed.

Anybody remember the accident at the Navel shipyard in San Diego? Several guys lifted a tall section to move it and touched the power lines. All were electrocuted.

I bought 4 sections this year.

Paid $150 on sale per section.

Paid for itself on the first job(the reason I bought it)

Dont know the cost to rent, but now i have it and dont have to rent

Used it couple times since then so i saved more money

Now i have it to save more

bought wheels and level jacks well woth the arm and leg

PS you got as h*ll of a deal as long as they work!!!

Re: Scaffolding Prices

I would like to get a set of the castor wheels and some leveling jacks. I also would like maybe 5 more sections so I would have 10 all together. I probably wouldnt need it all at once but it would be nice to have if I needed it. Im sure there will be times where I use 4 sectons maybe even all 5.
