Sam Maloof - RIP
Anyone that is into woodworking knows the name. It is one of the first names I heard for someone who was considered the best. The guy is a legend.
RIP Sam http://blogs.pe.com/news/digest/2009...am-maloof.html

That guy worked like a horse every single day 10+ hours.
He will be missed. |

Re: Sam Maloof - RIP
Maloof's finishing techniques were legendary by themselves. His contribution to the woodworking world will continue long after him.
He had a pretty good run. Not many people can say that they have over 60 years of woodworking experience. He will be missed.

Re: Sam Maloof - RIP
Let this be a lesson.
If you breath saw dust and fumes from wood finishes, ............. you can't expect to live past 93.

Re: Sam Maloof - RIP
Today, I just heard he passed away last week. There was just a great article about him in the March issue of CabinetMaker magazine. This man was still out in the shop working every day at the age of 93. I thinks it's just an accomplishment to find the shop at that age let alone being able to even pick up a tool.

Re: Sam Maloof - RIP
I saw Norm use Maloof's combination blend of Boiled Linseed oil, Tung Oil and polyurethene finish on one of his projects. Tried it and was amazed at the depth and quality of it plus the ease of applying it. Wouldn't use anything but that now on stuff I build.
Of course, If I had Maloof's skills I'd really be a happy camper. |
