Re: Rings?

No Jewlery- as for rings, my dad told me the story of when he fell in his highschool football stadium and broke his finger, and about how they had to cut off his highschool ring at the hospital, and I have never worn a ring since. It's a safety risk in my opinion, same reason that I don't wear necklesses and cut the drawcords out of hooded sweatshirts. When I get married, I'll probably wear the ring for that one day, then put it someplace safe to keep it and me from getting damaged.

The desire to have one on is to show that you belong with/to that very special someone, and as a rememberance that the love you share, as the ring has no end, is the same.

For example: Bon Jovi's song "Living in Sin" has a line that says, "I don't need a piece of paper to tell me you're mine." I wonder if Jon would sing and perform concerts without a written contract with all of his people and the performance center's people? I wonder if ANY of us would do ANY work for ANYBODY without a contract!! And yet, with the most personal and intimate relationship we can have with another person, most don't want to make that commitment.

Maybe that helps you understand why someone would have the desire to have one on.

As for me, I wear mine at work about 70% of the time. I don't want the finger to get hung up.

Re: Rings?

Absolutely never. That is one of the easiest ways to get a finger nastily ripped off if you slip and try to grab something. Been on construction where this has happened.. it is not just an old wive's tale.

Re: Rings?

I wear a necklace that stays tucked in my shirt 90% of the time. I do more of the admin. end now, and I do not do to much field work anymore so I do not worry about it.

When I was in the field though I never wore anything, I would put on my necklace on Friday evenings, and take it off after my shower on Sunday night. My father has been married to my mom for 25 years, and in business for 27 years, and has never wore his wedding ring one day either.

I've Never been married, so the ring thing has never been an issue. However I was engaged for two years about 5 years ago, and she gave me a ring when we got engaged. She would get pissed that I would never wear it...

Come to think of it, she was always pissed!!...Think I dodged a bullet!!

Re: Rings?

35 years ago mine got caught on metal straping around a wooden box of chains. Almost lost the finger, no rings or jewelry ever since.
