Retrofitting A Wood Picture Window?

With these tax credits I've got several single hung and double hung retrofit jobs lined up.

I've got one that I'm bidding now that has three large (10'x5') picture windows as well and I realized that I've never done a picture window "retrofit" where I left most of the trim all, the old frame and just replaced the light.

I've always pulled the whole unit out. Why? I don't know, that's just how I've always done it.

Now with everything being slow I'm trying to be as competitive as possible and it's looking like more of these jobs will come my way. It got me wondering if anyone has ever done a picture window retrofit similar to how we do the single and double hungs?

This would especially be good if I figure out a way and then have more of these jobs come along.

I don't have a photo of this particular houses windows or I'd post it.

So have any of you figured out a good method for this or are you still just yanking the whole unit?

Thanks,

Wack

We order a Vinyl deadlite which is esentially like ordering just a sash, and it will fit in just like the current picture window sash. Or, if you remove the picture window sash, and the parting stop, you can install a replacement picture window.

If its a picture window, with double hungs on either side, we cut out the mulls and install a mulled vinyl window

Thanks Patrick, that's exactly what I was hoping someone would say.
