Renovation Raiders!!!

Wow this program blows away any other. It's a complete joke. They have 5 hours to do a job. They pull out bearing walls, electrical, plumbing etc etc then bodge it all back up and get no inspections to shows it safe before they cover the walls. They are trying to fit a 2 weeks worth of work into 5 hours lol

Currently they are putting a header in and they have just rested the support studs right on the floor without transferring that load to the foundation lol

Hang on they have a buildings inspector on sight and she passed it wtf!

Re: Renovation Raiders!!!

Watching the same thing, they payed that inspector off for sure. It all looks good from my couch, I can't imagine how bad all the drywall looks. No customers are gonna want their job done in 5 hours.

They really wouldn't surprise me. That would be way to much stress for my liking.

Re: Renovation Raiders!!!

They have a statement that the inspections are prearranged and done off camera to save time. Come on you honestly think that they can tape that show produce it and air it and not think legal has done due diligence? How stupid do you think they are. Lawyers are all over that crap long before they think about doing a show like that.

Give your head a shake.

Oh and yes she is very cute.

I think that these type of shows do trades people a huge dis-service. The average home owner gets the idea that renovations take a very short time, or they can be their own GC and cut corners to save money.

Re: Renovation Raiders!!!

I was watching family under construction and it realy pissed me off. The home owner was trying to be the gc and diy as much of it as she could.

She did the insulation her self and half assed it like a mf. She thought having it spray fomed costed to much so she put blown insulation in and only did maby 12 inches up the wall. U dont know how to describr it but it was like a bedroom on a second floor of a bungalo were there is a short wall and then a couple feet of attic. She was real proud of her work. And the hole time I was thinking What about the rest of the wall thats not insulated. The little bit wont do very much.

And then she just genraly got in the trades way when they were trying to work.

Then she didnt want to listen to the water proofing guy when he said not only do they have to waterproof the brick foundation but also the pad if you want to finish the basement. She decided just to water proof the walls even though you could clearly see that water had been wicking up through the floor.

On top of all that she decided to have the deck built out of non pressure treated wood. Even though she stained it I bet in a couple years it will start rotting and not long after that will have to be torn up and replaced.

Her husband was even worse. He wanted to "help" the trim guy teim out the house. It would have been quicker without him tagging along and messing stuff up.

The funny think about it was he was away either being in a movie or filming a movie for the first couple months of the job so its not like they didnt have the money to do it right.

Re: Renovation Raiders!!!

I guess what we have to remember is reality don't sell stuff. They need to make it look easy so that all the HO will go out to the big box stores and buy up all the products and try and do it them self where as they prob wouldn't pay for a contractor to do it in the first place.
