Rained Out On A Sunny Day!?

I just couldn't take it anymore. I was up in the coastal mountains, attempting to install a deck ledger to a home. 2 hours of ice-water cold, heavy, rain pouring off the roof onto my head is my new limit. Holy cow Batman

I thought I was t-t-t-tough. Now I'm just n-n-n-numb (Rhymes with d-d-dumb). Then to add insult to injury, I rolled up and drove my soaked a$$ down off the mountain only to find a nice and warm, DRY day for everyone in the valley/delta!

I'm learning that the PNW is a microcosm of all of the weather possibilities on the planet - all at the same time.

Wimp....wus.....p(meow)....

I'm just getting them out there ahead of pack Fire away.

Re: Rained Out On A Sunny Day!?

The thing that really bites about new construction in the rain is NO GUTTERS! Working on that ledger board means a steady stream of cold water down your neck as all the water that hit the roof is now directed RIGHT AT YOUR HEAD!
No fun at all!
Yeah, we definitely have all sorts of weather - I got sunburned and snowed on the same day last week!

Keep on truckin' - summer can't be too far away (can it?)

And Tom, appreciate the patriotism but if you didn't know, Wallmaxx has been there, done that!

Mac,

Help me out here..........

I'm confused (which by the way is nothing new), but is that what you call talking in the 4th person?

Re: Rained Out On A Sunny Day!?

I put up a shed for a guy in January. 15 degrees, plus windy as heck. My helper agreed that if it were 70 and sunny it would have been the most fun job we had ever done, but in the cold it was absolutely miserable. It took us an extra day and a half just because the old bones don't move as fast in the cold.

Just saying that Wallmaxx (guy who started this thread) has served in the armed forces - he supported the troops so much, he was one.

Around here you just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change. This is no joke, i have seen it snow, rain, and sunny all in the same day.

I had to bail on a job for half a day about 2 weeks ago. Beautiful sunny day, 60 degrees (f) outside. Unfortunately there was about 6" of snow on the roof and it rained on our siding job all damn day. Felt f'd up pulling out at noon but I was soaked and had enough!

Re: Rained Out On A Sunny Day!?

One of the best ski days I ever had was rain down in Lake Tahoe town and snow up the slopes. We had 12" plus powder to ourselves at Heavenly for 6 hours.
