Quick Way To Draw Wall Frame Detail Plans

Hey . I drew some plans for a customer on a oversized garage with a loft on top, the customer wants to build it himself and would like a wall detail planshowing the studs, headers, cripplers etc.. measurements and windows..

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any software that could help me draw this out or if i should just spend a night drafting it all out. thanks

Make the customer that wants the detailed plans draw it? When are they going to come out with a do it yourself tumor removal plan?

Thats easy for a program like softplan or chief architect. Are you ready to spend $3,000????

There are free details all over the internet in AutoCAD format. Just have to find them, maybe modify them to suit your needs. This is all that an architect does. Well, they have their won, but they use their detais over and over.

Many CAD programs already have some details included, just have to modify.

PM me with your plans and I'll show you.

Re: Quick Way To Draw Wall Frame Detail Plans

I have access to chief architect but its out of my league. Google sketchup would be nice to learn, we will have to find a tutuorial.

I'm downloading a trial of Softplan it looks promising, tried searching google sketchup for wall detail plans didn't find any

Re: Quick Way To Draw Wall Frame Detail Plans

Wow, Wallmaxx thats awesome. Something like that is exactly what I'm looking for (alot better actually). I got a trial of SoftPlan that I'm going to play around with. I don't have SolidBuilder. Is it complicated to use it to get wall details like that?

Better Homes & Gardens Designer Suite. It's a scaled down version of Chief Architect. It does way more than I know how to do, but that isn't much. On Ebay for as low as $20. Current price is $30 for V6 and $70 for V7. Don't know whatz new in v7.

You can knock out a quick & dirty floorplan in 5 minutes. Another 5 to add windows and doors. I can never build a roof though. Someday I'll read the instructions.

Has 3D overview and doll house view. Camera view is cool to play with and show customers the rooms. (Kinda)

I started playing around with SoftPlan last night. I got some wall detail plans, but I'm not sure if SoftPlan will show materials list and cut measurements

Funny thing is I use Chief architect which people say is a difficult program and It seems so easy to me. Yet google sketch up is the dark side for me

Re: Quick Way To Draw Wall Frame Detail Plans

Like any software....its all what you put into it. Chief was confusing to me, wereas I picked up softplan really fast. I tried to play with sketchup for a few hours and said the heck with it!!! Take time to learn one of them and they become and invaluable tool.

Things have been rather slow here where I am at so I have been just drawing lots of plans so when things do pick up I will have a large inventory of plans to show clients and can hopefully make some money selling plans as well as building homes. I've done about 10 new plans in the last few weeks and hope to do 10-15 more by the end of the summer.

I went with SoftPlan for my initial investment and I'll tell you right now, don't bother buying it. Find something that has community support. AutoCAD, SketchUp, ArchiCAD. Either of those 3 you will not go wrong without a doubt in my mind.
