Question On BUILDING A HOUSE-----

i need to know on average the cost of building a house using average material;cabinets,plywood,ect... labor and materials for lets say a 3000 sq ft home. not the land. the reason i am asking is because i sell windows and i want to come up with a percentage based on how much a builder spends on GOOD quality windows and doors based on the cost to build a home. for example.; .05% ect.... thanks i was thinking 250k for labor and materials in the northeast for a 3000 sq ft home?

$83 a square foot, you should start building houses.

There are not many 3000 sq. ft. homes being built in Camden, NJ.
When working in Camden you have to add an additional percentage amount for bullet-proof vests.

So, how much to build a 3000 sq.ft. home in Camden?

You need to learn how to do basic math or use a calculator.

A 3,000 ft2 house at $100 per ft2 would be $300,000 and at $110 per ft2 it would be $330,000.

not $250,000.

The northeast of Baghdad? That's going to require a lot more security than Camden.
By the way, how much does a window cost?

Re: Question On BUILDING A HOUSE-----

I'm not going to speak for anyone else, but I sure as heck can't build anything for $100/sqft.

My price for an "average" home is around $250+sq/ft.

So around 3/4 of a mill.

Re: Question On BUILDING A HOUSE-----

"Building a home" is a far too broad of a generalization.

How much for a car?

Giving you an answer wouldn't do the truth much justice.

I've never built sub-divisions, but I presume 100sq/ft is possible there. I build custom homes and I've never built for less than 250/sq.

I built a roughly 3000 sq/ft home once for 7+mill.

The only way you're going to figure out your percentages are if you are working with a builder that consistently builds in the same price range. For whatever reason you are trying to do this, I don't think you're doing yourself any justice...the swings are too high.

I use the slightly above average plywood, so there wouldn't be any point in telling you my number.

interesting how you took the time to answer my question with sarcasm. would of been quicker to give an honest answer which i already recieved. perhaps you could spend your time a bit more efficiently rather than spending time on the internet making sarcastic posts? no offense.

ENFORCER
I'm not going to waste your time with nonsense so i will tell you straight up. you are on the right track at about $110 bucks a square foot assuming you are using average quality products for kitchen ,bath, ect.
i am in windows as well and i suppose your formula will make some sense from a sales point of view.
I'm a bit disappointed taht some of the others on this board gave you such a hard time. then again its the interent.
