Publisher 1 Blogspot

I read your blog just now and felt violated.

I post on CT to hang out and shoot the crap with other contractors that go through what I go through.

Reading your blog felt like someone was invading my privacy. It may be good PR and help guys get ranked, rated, etc.

But my stomach hurt just reading the quotes ripped from CT and posted on your site.

Re: Publisher 1 Blogspot

He has a constructing marketing blog and uses posts from CT. I guess that's legal and OK with Nathan. He published one of my posts and one by Tinner666. It weirds Rory out, but I'm OK with it, but it is strange to see your words on another guys website.

For me its a few things.

There are so many posts from this site and many others.

Can he not come up with his own original content??

He did not get permission to quote some of the persons quoted before hand. He just posts whatever he wants?

Most important to me is. A lot of us come here to vent or socialize with each other.

Some of us may not want the ideas or conversations discussed on this board to be posted and advertised else where.

You have a point, and I would have phrased my thoughts differently if I thought potential customers might see it. Good point

There are things that we say here that if posted somewhere else could be taken out of context.

If you follow the post here the reply would be ok. Posted some where else in a different atmosphere or new heading

I have been misquoted twice. One of which almost ended in a lawsuit

I was asked myself and given my permission.
The other time I was quoted while we met at a trade show.
I was aware of it and I was asked.
That is a PR3 blog, I thought that is useful.

Re: Publisher 1 Blogspot

I first heard about the Construction News and Report Group of Companies when Chase ( http://www.contractortalk.com/members/chase99-21896/ ) signed up on my forum about a year ago. He works with Publisher1 and at that time their website was http://www.constructionnrgroup.com/ Then when I seen Publisher1 here I noticed that site no longer existed and the link redirected to the blog. Now I see a new site is being built on that domain. What happened to the old one?

I'm also curious to know exactly which magazines in North America do you guys publish? Links to them? Can we have a list of them so we can go to the local News Stand and check them out?

He should be asking before using your direct quotes. At least I would think?

You're usually pretty level headed, but I don't get this.

This is the internet. You're posting on an un-protected, public viewable website and you don't want just anybody to see it?

Re: Publisher 1 Blogspot

I think Rorys point is not that he thinks CT is private, but that what we say here is now being seen somewhere else. I like the fact we goof around a bit on CT, and now realize that if I get too loose a potential customer may read something they don't like. I can live with that.

Re: Publisher 1 Blogspot

It has been a while since I read through all of the registration questions on this site, but I do think that I remember one being asked if it was okay and authorized for your posts/comments to be used or quoted elsewhere. I don't remember the exact wording, but if you did not give permission, or if you would like your comments to be edited, I believe you have that right.

Which blog post were you referring to?

If it was the one on internet collaboration, I did not object, although the request was made post publication, since I personally already feel that anything I write on the internet may be viewable by thousands of lurkers who never even have to regster, unless I post the topic in the Hard Hat Forum for privacy.

By the way, when I checked out the article, I did not see any direct comments included or quotations of respondents, just a link to the thread.

Publisher1 has used some of my quotes in the past. I was always asked beforehand, and provided a backlink to my website which helps rankings.

Ok consider this dropped.

I just have a different outlook and take on this. I do not want anyone to think I am questioning his honesty.

I just have a different take on what is fair game to repeat based on its origin and intend viewer.

I understand its the internet and it is subject to be seen by all. For me it is where I place my words V.S. Where they end up.

I have had that checked since signing up for this forum. I have been quoted out of context before. That is why this rubs me a bit

Rory, if Publisher1 is using quotes that identify your company then IMO you should be asked.. Can you post a link? Its been awhile since I've been to his sight.
