Price4 Interior Walls Metal Framing

i am starting a commercial job in new orleans which i will be throwing up multiple partitians or dividers with metal studs. I've done the work many times before, all my men have, but this is my first time putting the work into my bid. I usually do alot of stick construction here in louisiana and know that i should charge more for the metal work. help.

I am using self tapping 1 1/4" screws to fasten studs to tracks.

well.....if you are using 1-1/4" self tapping screws then it should be a breeze. You'll make a killing.

With the information provided it is impossible for someone to give you any sort of sensible information.

How high are the walls??
What gauge studs?
Free standing, to the deck, or fastened to existing grid?
Blocking?

Re: Price4 Interior Walls Metal Framing

alright, so i am a twenty something carpenter getting into a new realm. I will do my best to answer your specifications.

The framing will be 20 gauge, the height of the ceilings is 11 feet, the contractor wants me to assemble a grid to replace the existing drop ceiling out of the metal stud material using trapees to take out the slack. I will secure the non load bearing walls to this grid as well as 5/8 sheetrock, total area for the ceiling is 1400 ft. I have two men in my crew besides myself they are skilled carpenters and drywall men, they dont have as much experince with metal framing but are competent, there is no christmas party or starbucks.

Now I just wanted a fair price per linear foot to give my customer of all the work I am doing on this job this is what i dont quite now how to price and was looking for a little help.

It is not about specs, it is about a Man (assumed) asking how to run his purported business in his purported field.

How long will it take?
How much do you pay you're guys?
Are you licensed?
Insured?
Overhead?
Every one's pricing needs to be figured according to their needs. How about a little profit?

If you don't feel like figuring it all out, maybe just ask the client how much they want to spend?Sounds like that's what you're asking anyways.

Re: Price4 Interior Walls Metal Framing

I just had a similar job just interior tenant improvement and I had to bid the framing first, well I didn't know if you bid by the linear foot or what. So I just crunched some numbers and came up with a price, now that I am done and realized I bid way low, I will adjust, then divide my linear footage into it, now I know!

And I don't think that will be much help,
unless the next job is exactly the same.
Never understood by the foot.
If you want to do "by the something,"
do by the corner.
Much of the time is in the corners.
1000 feet of straight wall?
Or 25 10' square rooms?
Maybe the next time the lf price
will be on the 6th floor, stairway
access only?
Lineal foot, don't get it.

Re: Price4 Interior Walls Metal Framing

Hey, I do this every day and wouldn't give a lineal foot price, but do use the National Construction Estimator to itemize and rough out the estimate. I built a lab for a company here in SE Pennsylvania for 20,000. The same company put the same job up for bids in their HQ in Florida, and the lowest bid was 500,000. Think I'm working too cheap?
