Price List?????

I feel at times I don't price things accordingly.
And find out that I'm losing money in the end..
Does any one out have a Price List that I can follow?
It would really help me out.
Thanks

Re: Price List?????

Retail minus whatever you can get away with for purchased items such as fixtures. Only you can make the call on the rest of it.

Re: Price List?????

But isn't there "A list " to follow.
I'm based in NJ
I don't like juggling prices.
Isn't there a formula?
Help me out!

Re: Price List?????

Make an excel spreadsheet. Input all the costs involved in a project and have it add them up. This will help you not forget things. I have one for decks but I have things broken into units so the spreadsheet is not huge. For example I have support posts 3 varietes 4x4 redwood, 4x4, pt and 6x6 redwood. I just input quantity needed and in the pricing is: the post, nails, hardware needed for the post, and labor to cut and install the post. I just put in 3 and it tells me how much that part of the job costs.

Price list for what?
Tile, carpet, plumbing fixtures, lighting, wall paper ????

I'd suggest you get an estimating program.

A recent poster(he replied while this was in progress) says "make an Excel sheet".
Excellant idea...BUT....what about the labor units?

EDIT:

Here's a pic of what Robert was talking about.

Material cost and labor units are meaningless solo.

Re: Price List?????

excel, as many will tell you is the way to go.

your vendors should be able to provide, there catalog to you in excel. you can keep it simple or have on set up like mike finly's, search for thread, excel the supertool. mine is very simple.

sounds like you are guesstimating for your bids. this will bite you hard.

Re: Price List?????

2 brothers, since you are also from NJ, i'm going to give you the secret...

if it's general contracting, take the (((livable sq footage/400)*(1250-(livable sq ft/400))/0.35)*64.50)+1

that will give you an exact price.

if it's for trade work, just don't add the one at the end.

that's the answer to the price list.

good luck

hey no problem...

if you can't get that equation to work...try RS Means...about as close to "the price list" as you will find.
