Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job -- Part II

Continued on Phase I for the Jail Bar. Actually finished phase 1 today. That was the walls, base and trim. Instead of using the 1x1 from the floor to the upper beam I decided to use the side of the boxed post to stiffen the end of run. Plus this is where the door will go and it will make a nice stiff jamb.

As you can see the HO decided it was a good time to start the painting over the weekend. I didn't expect the red, figured it was going to be a mustard color.

Ended the trim this way.

Next in line are the White Oak counters, the boxed posts, shelving and a cheater cabinet.

Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job -- Part II

Phase II of the Jail Bar build is complete. I put a support on the inside of the bar that was 2 1/4" wide that I would use to screw through the support into the underside of the bar top. Then I used a cardboard template to fit the two tops at the miter. The miter is 45.5 degrees because I followed the beam on the ceiling which wasn't parallel to the wall.

I used a couple of pocket screws that later got covered with the posts and another pair of pocket screws on the underside of the bar top. Couple of biscuits for alignment and glue to complete the miter. Then I screwed through the support which I installed earlier. The bar top near the entry opening to the bar I dadoed the upright so the bar top slid into the dado which locked it in place and level. I used the multimaster and a chisel to make the dado. The fit was great, a bit snug.

Then I had to put the posts up, three of the sides were pocket screwed into the bar top and into the beam. This make things very sturdy/stiff and keep the bar top level.

I also put a face frame with a pair of doors on the inside of the bar and that will get a counter. To the right of the "cabinet" will be a double door wine cooler refrigerator which is 30" wide.

Next is Phase III which will be the jail doors and the swinging door. But that may be nixed, they're thinking about it.
