Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job.

Here's a historic structure we recently repaired. The building was constructed in 1903, without foundations, just wood frame set on earth. The building had no sheathing. It was the stone veneer that was partially in the stud cavities, under the windows, providing support for three stories. The concrete slab interior floor was installed in the early 1990's. Prior to that it was a wood floor set on earth.

the hard and heavy part all done. I originally had gable timbers instead of radius. but my artist better half told me different. still need to finish doweling and wood and copper caps on the stone column bases..
now to design the next project..

Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job.

awesome work bodean. i love the wood pegs, you don't see that very often these days, most people aren't wiling to pay for it.
did an engineer spec the dowel size? i know around here they'd be wondering where the lags and 5/8 bolts are to hold that thing up from falling.
not saying you arent doing it the right way, just wondering how the pattern, size etc, was determined, and by who?>

Warner Contracting:

Are you restoring that house? Wow! Takes guts... I love the architecture of those old houses. BTW - are those clapboards face nailed? Is that what I'm seeing. I build new stuff and don't see how you guys do it.... When I grow up I wanna build new stuff that looks like old stuff. All I need is the financial backing.. :-) Running out of time to grow up though...

Over the next several years that is the plan.
The main structure is still close to original 1849.

Face nailed poplar, it has had no paint on it since the late 60's.

Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job.

I love working on older homes. It's a challenge. I always tell people, doing additions on older homes is harder than building a brand new house from scratch because of all the challenges you run into.
we are going to be doing an addition on a 1700s stone house within the next few years. it's in the planning stages now.
I am looking forward to that.

show us some progress pics warner as you start it. and work on it

Not too glamorous. This is a Starbucks I'm finishing up for the next 4 days.

Just added all the upper cabinets against the back wall.

Just installed the reclaimed oak around the old cabinetry and added the corian counter(pass through)

The rest of the place gets the same reclaimed oak as wainscoting throughout.
