Re: Post A Picture Of Your Current Job.

Had a tough one today. An old friend who now works at the HD asked me to come by the house to give him a price on a few things. I had some time so I started by wiring and hanging this billiards pendant light. You can't see it too well in the picture but there were 2 copper water pipes in the way that I secured to a 2x4 brace, dadoed a 2nd 2x4 to fit under the pipes, drilled a hole for the wire through the double 2x4 bracing, installed a pancake box, checked for height and wired her up. Not seen is the new switch on the wall.

2 hours later we sipped a few beers and I had to kick the HO's ass at pool.

I found two wires and just twisted them together - go figure.

There's nothing too it, really. You know how I get psyched when it comes to wood and glue. The light would have swung around and round if the canopy wasn't flush to the bracing. Good thing HO had painted 2x4 to match the rest of the unfinished ceiling.

They went in pretty easy. That SimPull stuff. I thought this way looked much neater than just going 45º right to the service head.

Starting to pick up. Just getting used the peaks and valleys and going from nothing to do to not enough time in the day to do it. Running around getting used to the permit process and all that. I hope to score a complete rewire of an old home with knob and tube at a nice chunk of change. You know how it is.

Built in 1875. Work consisted of a total restoration of the front of the residence, including carpentry, brass work, and painting. The doors were taken apart, repaired, rebuilt and re-painted, as well as additional work. East Boston can be a "Challenge" also with parking wars, traffic, and overly surley meter maids. Anyhow:
