Pick Two Out Of Three.....

Someone posted something on here I am trying to locate. It was basically a close line, something to the effect of, "if you were going to pick two out of these three things that are the most important to you----best job, price, ......blah blah." Can someone refer me to that thread or tell me that phrase again??? It was kinda catchy. TIA, jon

Re: Pick Two Out Of Three.....

I think it's the offer of only two of the following three:

1. a GOOD job
2. a FAST job
3. a CHEAP job

You will lose money in the long run if you seriously allow a client to choose a CHEAP job as one of the two options.

Beware of any client that seriously suggests they should be able to get all three if they help out. You will likely lose money with such clients also.

I've never really understood this. What if the customer says low price and good quality?

Or low price and good service?

How does one rebute that?

Re: Pick Two Out Of Three.....

I would like a low price, Then have a family memeber do the job, you want a quality job then you hire me. that was easy. How about the ones that say, "I'm looking for a good price and quality workmanship and quality materials and I have some friends who need work done to, so if you do a real good job I'll have them call you?" You add 15% to the price. unless you like smoke blown up your butt.

simple. i can give you a great price for great work, but you have to wait till I can fit you in. When we have some down time I can come over and get started, but when another customer wants quality and service -and they are willing to pay my actual price- they take precendence.

But relax, you are getting a great bargain.

Or you get over there immediately, give them a great price, then install garbage. Reuse things that shouldn't be reused. Cut corners. Etc. A la Wal-Mart.

Unfortunately, both of these things happen every day without anyone just explaining it to the customer. How many jobs are sitting half done, while the contractor goes to do a job for a better customer that pays more?
