How big? Look at Estes. They can push the limits to the Civilian.

If you want to get serious, you have to be registered and take classes.

DIY is really bad right now (I wanted to say tough). The gov't has clamped down since 9-11 and it's tough to get past kiddie toys. Expect This trend to contine.

Ever race valve covers? Rockets gone sideways!

Re: Ok - I'm Building The Guy A Rocket Now ....

Following Burt and Dick Rutan would be tough http://www.scaled.com/ I should have gone there a long time ago. I have many organic designs for aircraft/amphibians.

I haven't checked out the big guy's lately. Our field was also built over. I don't know what the bigger guys are doing now. I do know that HSA is part of it and that it's pretty much over for amatures that like big stuff.

I dont know much... But I can give you a SQ FT price for the hanger... And a LF for the rocket. You just have to provide me with a little more info.

Robert, big rockets require a thrust pad. I've never built one but there is a nasa.org site that can tell you how to build one. A few $M will get you a little one.

Dirt…I think you are missing the big picture here. Anyone can build a rocket! The budget is unlimited they are usually build then design as you go.
Now the hanger, that is were you should be spending your time. The average hanger I would guess at costing somewhere between 6-12 million. I would make sure you read the fine print too….you know what they say; they get what they paid for…
P.S. You know that this is not rocket science.
