NY Bedroom In/egress

I'm not lazy just goofed with some paint. Turded all over my NY code copy. Can any one out t/here quote or otherwise reference the section of NY code that spec's the size of windows in a NY (not city) renovation of a bedroom. _And_ the conditions under which such window work is required? Got an HO hoppin' mad because the town says they need a variance for the dinky windows the arch. spec'd (8 months agao). Yes, the arch is on vaykay. brother. If you can't quote it, the section # is helpful too -- my library is open tomorrow...

Opening minimum is 5.7 sq ft except grade floor openings are 5 sq ft.
