no i did go back and see the tv in the first picture but i didnt bring my camera, the area was space out so there would be a 1 1/2 in space around between the tv and stone, we usualy know the size of the tv and fit it right, i you where to put a small tv in that space i think it would look stupid.

Thats very nice work Bruno. I would market that if I were you. Big screen TV's are becoming very affordable these days, I would imagine you could make a good deal of coin promoting this.

Never see fire brick? Soon it will all be black and nobody will notice.

Who cares once that it's blackened? This isn't fine furniture.

The great part is that in a year or two they'll be calling you back to bump out the recess for a bigger TV. Keep them on your mailing list.

You're a fussy bloke aren't you, DIRT.

I've never seen this in Australia, seems like a good idea, BUT...........When the bricks get hot due to the fires heat, doesn't the TV faulter so to speak?? How would it affect the TV? Also what about the fumes?? I see a problem here.

the joint in the back look like they are spreading out because half way up the back way the back wall starts to lean forward. it has a arch to it. its the way the owner wanted it.

if you can afford the fireplaces and these TVs when they break they can buy a new one.

but we make the mantel stick out just a bit more to deflect the heat. the brick around the fireplace will never get hot enought to danage the tv. th heat you have to worry about is the heat coming dirrectly from the fire.

That is awesome. The only problem I see is that the next tv you buy has to be the same size.

Re: New Trends In Custom Design

We've done this on almost every job in the last few years...Not in stone, but with a wood burning insert surrounded by wood mantles. It looks good, but I've never understood why someone would want their TV so high and distracted by the fire. I prefer to watch the tube at eye level. Has anyone actually spent much time watching movies with a TV 4 feet+ off the floor, with a fire going on below?

Re: New Trends In Custom Design

That's right, easier watching the box at eye level.
