New To Spraying

I need some advice on spraying.

On new construction what procedure would I want to follow:
One prime coat to ceiling then color prime coat to walls, then a finish coat to ceiling again? Would I then cut in walls about 6" or so and then spray final coat to walls? Other than skill with a sprayer how can I avoid any over spray?

Any advice would be appreciated. I've done quite a bit of painting over the years (not professionally) and am now retired running a one-man paint business but with no experience in spraying.

Thanks for any help,

Terry

Re: New To Spraying

when spraying drywall new or old you need to back roll for the best finish. As a one man show this can be a challenge. You can get a spray pole that has a roller on it. The roller is on a pivot so that the gun can spray on the wall or on the roller.

Prime everything first same color for sake of speed. Prep work. Then ceilings. Trim next. If there is crown spray it then come back with a brush to cut in the ceilings. It's faster than brushing the crown. Then brush and roll the walls. It's faster than trying to protect the ceilings and trim.

I'm sure another painter may have a different way but this is how I do it. good luck.

Great first post.
Spray and back roll ceilings, spray trim, cut in and roll walls, paint base in carpeted areas on the way out.

Spray it all, try not to trip on the cans as you finish each one! Krylon is my favorite!
